A Warm & Welcome Stay

Located a mile from the Kokosing Gap Trail, on a charming brick lined street, The Welcome Stay is a cozy home away from home for any traveler. We spoke with owners and operators, Jodi and Jim Coffield to hear what makes this gateway so special.

CVB: How did you get interested in having a short-term rental in downtown Mount Vernon?

Jim: “We love traveling to new places and were looking for a place that felt charming, inviting, centrally located and had a lot of things going on. The first time we visited Mount Vernon we were impressed with the activities and events going on, plus the location of the trails and natural resources. It's all right here!”

CVB: What's most important for visitors to know about your location?

Jodi: “Definitely how close we are to the action. Being a mile from the Ohio to Erie Trail is so important as cyclists travel from all over the world to complete the trail. We know its hard to find a place to rest your head after a long day on the trail, so the proximity is so important. Not to mention we’re so close to the theaters in town, the Woodward Opera House and the Knox Memorial Theatre have great shows and entertainment, its a wonderful place to stay after a long day enjoying something new.”

CVB: What’s a frequently asked question your guests ask?

Jim: “A lot of guests come into town with a plan, visiting family, traveling to a specific destination or for an event, so most just need plans to fill in the “in-between”. A lot ask about the trail, the local food scene or events that are going on during their time visiting. And we get asked if we have bike storage! We pride ourselves in offering a safe space for our guests to store their bikes overnight.

CVB: What's your number recommendation to your guests? How should they enjoy Mount Vernon or Knox County?

Jodi: “We always recommend the trail and a walk downtown. Visiting the shops and just enjoying a local meal is a perfect way to get a taste of what this town has to offer. If they are staying longer we encourage them to check out the events calendar on the Knox County CVB Website.
