Oaks & Acorns (Thu. 20 Apr, 2017 10:00 am - 11:30 am)

This new program is designed for caregivers (moms, dads, grandparents, aunts, uncles, etc.) with children ages 5 and younger.  Caregivers and children will spend time together outside experiencing guided nature play, outdoor investigations, and hands-on discoveries.  We will provide caregivers with ideas to safely and comfortably spend time outside while encouraging creativity, curiosity, and imaginative play.  Programs are scheduled for April 20, 27, May 4, 11, 18 and 25.  Programs begin at 10:00am and end by 11:30.

Space is limited!  Call now to register.  Payment due (cash or check) by April 17.

To register for the entire series (all 6 programs):   Members - $20     Non-members - $30

To register for select dates:  Members - $5 per day         Non-members - $10 per day

MVNU Jazz Band Concert (Thu. 20 Apr, 2017 7:30 pm)

The MVNU Jazz Band & Combo will present a concert of big band music including jazz, pop, and Broadway standards.

The casual concert is in the Prince Student Union and is FREE and open to the public.

Nick, a single, Italian-American marketing executive from New Jersey, routinely visits his four grandparents every Sunday for family dinner since his parents retired and moved to Florida.  As their only close relative, Nick's grandparents inundate him with family tradition and lots of food.  When Nick announces he is being promoted and moving to Seattle, his grandparents are devastated and quickly concoct a series of hilarious schemes to keep Nick from leaving, including introducing him to the woman of his dreams.

 

Vaughn Wiester Music Scholarship Benefit Concert (Fri. 21 Apr, 2017 7:30 pm)

Annual free benefit concert to benefit a music scholarship provided through the Community Foundation of Mount Vernon & Knox County. The Vaughn Wiester Famous Jazz Orchestra Concert begins at 7:30 and is free to the public. Free-will donations to the scholarship fund will be accepted.

Keep It Wild: Earth Day at the BFEC (Sat. 22 Apr, 2017 2:00 pm - 5:00 pm)

You won't want to miss this FREE event!  We'll have live raptors, mammals, and reptiles for you to "meet" up-close.  Learn how to take care of our local wildlife by building bluebird boxes, bat boxes, and more!  Everything you build, you can take home.  Live music and food trucks will round out this festival style event.

MVNU Small Ensembles Concert (Sat. 22 Apr, 2017 3:00 pm)

The MVNU Chamber Winds, Flute Choir, and Goliards Chamber Choir will present a concert with a variety of choral and instrumental music.

This FREE concert is in Thorne Performance Hall in the R.R. Hodges Chapel and is open to the public.
