Miller Observatory Open House (Tue. 29 Aug, 2017 9:00 pm - 11:00 pm)

Meet at Miller Observatory.  Enjoy telescope views of celestial sites including the moon, planets like Venus, Jupiter, and Saturn, as well as star clusters and nebulae.  Weather permitting (if it’s cloudy, the program will be cancelled).  FREE.

Plein Air Painters at the BFEC (Wed. 30 Aug, 2017 5:00 pm - 8:00 pm)

Enjoy this opportunity to paint, draw, or sketch with like-minded artists every Wednesday from 5 - 8pm.  Bring your own supplies, including a chair and/or easel, and spend the evening houws painting in a peaceful setting.  The Resource Center will be open for restrooms.  The Wildlife Garden, ponds, and trails, are all available and waiting to be painted.  We look forward to seeing you there!

Fredericktown Saddle Club Fun Shows (Wed. 30 Aug, 2017 6:30 pm - 7:30 pm)

Fredericktown Saddle Club will be hosting its Fun Shows every Wednesday, rain or shine.  Classes include Pee-Wee Barrels, Barrels, Stake and Bend, Flags, Open Egg and Spoon, Open Halter, Showmanship, Walk-Trot, Western Horsemanship, and more! The show starts at 6:30pm, FREE to watch! Farm Friday (Fri. 1 Sep, 2017 6:00 pm - 7:00 pm)

Kids and parents can learn how a cow is milked, sit on tractors and learn about how they are used in the fields around Knox County, and talk with farmers and ask answer questions on what it takes to bring our food from fields to dinner plates. Local orchards will have apples on hand for the picking, maple syrup producers will show us the process on how syrup is made and have maple cotton candy, and the Bee Keepers Association will show us how bees pollinate our plants to make food. Guest can also visit vendors from the farmers market, learn about soil erosion, ethanol vehicles and corn products, why the farm bill is important to us all, by-products from the Cattleman’s and Sheep Improvement Association, food safety, cooking demos, Celebrity Pie Throwing Contest, pedal tractor races, and much more.

Farm Friday will be held during First Friday. Agriculture will be in the 100 block of Main Street.

Color for a Cause 5K (Sat. 2 Sep, 2017 5:00 pm - 6:00 pm)

Come have fun at Color Run! 

The Teen Advisory Council, a collabortive group of teens from across Knox County representing New Directions and KSAAT (Knox Substance Abuse Action Team) will host this family-friendly and FUN event at Ariel Foundation Park.This event will promote healthy lifestyles, including non-violent relationships and alcohol, drug and tobacco free lives! The TAC is a group of passionate, informed high school students who serve as ambassadors of healthy relationships in their schools and communities. 

Special rates will be given for larger groups partcipating in the Color Run! 

Rick Brunetto Big Band - AFP Free Concert Series (Sat. 2 Sep, 2017 7:30 pm)

Enjoy a wonderful late summer evening with the swing and big band music of the Rick Brunetto Big Band at Ariel-Foundation Park. The 17-piece Rick Brunetto Big Band enjoys great success on the Columbus music scene and appears regularly at festivals, clubs and special events. The band's recordings include: "Tuxedo Junction," "Pick Your Take," "Stand Up and Swing," and their latest CD "So Many Stars So many Dreams." He has written arrangements and compositions for percussion ensemble, big band and symphony orchestra. They will perform at the open-air Schnormeier Event Center. Food/beverage vendors available. Come early and enjoy a stroll through the park.
