General info

The Heart of Ohio Trail (HOOT), a 16-mile trail from Centerburg to Mount Vernon, is a part of the Ohio to Erie Trail crossing Ohio from the Ohio River near Cincinnati to Lake Erie near Cleveland. The HOOT section of the Ohio to Erie Trail follows Dry Creek to the Kokosing River along the old Clveland, Akron, and Columbus Railroad. About 7 miles of the trail has been paved: starting in Centerburg at N Clayton St and running east/north east to Graham Rd and is open for use. There are trail heads at N Clayton St, Centerburg Memorial Park, and at Mount Liberty. Grants have been applied for to pave other sections of the trail. A connector route through Mount Vernon to the Kokosing Gap Trail is being planned. For more information or to volunteer for trail maintenance, visit www.heartofohiotrail.org
