Expect there to be much foot traffic and commotion through Knox County the second weekend in August. The 25th Annual Dan Emmett Festival will see over 20,000+ visitors alone in downtown Mount Vernon. Beginning on Thursday, August 9 - Sunday, August 12 the Festival will be enhanced by the 6,000+ riders traveling from Columbus to Gambier, for the cancer research fundraiser, the Pelotonia. The Pelotonia has become a community of riders and volunteers working toward a common goal: ending cancer. The trails of Knox County will be the a major part of the routes traveled by bicyclists, and Gambier will be the place of rest for the participants. For participants of the Pelonotia, the festival may be an interesting rest stop and attraction for those looking to take a break from the bike ride. Food, music, community, and shopping would make for a nice evening for weary trail riders. The Dan Emmett Festival and Knox County welcomes Pelotonia riders, supporters, and volunteers to enjoy the festivities of downtown Mount Vernon, and gives them a round of applause for their cancer-ending efforts! |
