There is a universal rule of summer in Ohio: no matter how great your day was, it can always be improved by a scoop of ice cream. And if you’ve spent any time in Fredericktown lately, you already know that the local sweet-tooth scene just got a massive upgrade.
We are officially rolling out the red carpet (and the rainbow sprinkles) for the newest gem on the block…
TK’s Ice Cream and Sweets!
Nestled right in the heart of the village at 13 East College Street, TK’s is fast becoming Fredericktown's favorite neighborhood gathering spot. It’s the perfect place to celebrate a Little League victory, cool down with the family after a sunny afternoon, or enjoy a summer staple with a menu that completely curbs any hunger.
While the village of Fredericktown is rich in local heritage and charm, TK’s brings a fresh, vibrant, and utterly fun energy to the community. They aren't just serving up the classics; they are crafting an experience.
When you walk through the doors, you’re greeted by the nostalgic, sweet aroma of sugar cones, a dizzying array of premium flavors, and endless toppings. From towering traditional sundaes loaded with hot fudge to creative, kid-approved creations, there is truly something for every kind of ice cream lover.
Ahead of their grand opening we sat down with owner, Kristine Lindeman, to chat about how TK’s came to be and what their team is most excited about at this brand new location.
KCCVB: Rehabbing a historic building, adding a sidewalk, a huge outdoor patio…TK’s has been quite the journey to get here. How did you know this was an investment you and your husband wanted to take?
Kristine: This community has grown so much in just the last five years. We’ve loved having our shop (The Shoppe on Main) on Main Street. From the new splash pad, to the village streetscape project, we’ve seen how much the community got behind these projects and we wanted to keep that momentum going with something the community could really benefit from.
KCCVB: I mean, an ice cream shop right across from the Kokosing Park Splash Pad…what a perfect pairing! Beyond the location, what makes this place special?
Kristine: For one, this community. There’s a lot of passion and drive to see our small town thrive. But being right in the center of Main Street just adds another reason to browse the shops, come down for the farmers market, the weekend events or just an excuse to explore Fredericktown longer. Not to mention the jobs, right now we are employing 27 people, most of them young kids from Fredericktown. Being a place where kids can have their first job or be a place for them to build their skills is something we really value.
KCCVB: When you think of what success looks like for a place like yours, what does that look like?
Kristine: Being a gathering place for the community and just adding to the overall offerings of the village (and the entire county). We will be open year round, so I think it will be fun to see how the seasons bring new groups, events, gatherings and menus. We think the real success will be making this a memorable place for anyone and everyone.
The Perfect Community Pairing
Fredericktown has always been a place where community happens face-to-face—on front porches, along the sidewalks, and under the lights of local Friday night games. TK's provides that perfect, central spot to sit down, catch up with neighbors, and watch the world go by with a sprinkled cone in hand.
It’s the ideal pit-stop to add to your next Knox County trip. Imagine spending a sunny Saturday afternoon exploring the nearby countryside, picking up some local finds, and capping it off with a customized sundae at TK's.
