About the exhibit:
Knox County, Ohio has a prodigious black history that is often under-represented or entirely disregarded in many of our modern displays and discussions. This history frequently intersects with that of Kenyon College;significant historical figures—including Langston Hughes, Frederick Douglass, and Maya Angelou—have walked through our halls or visited Mount Vernon. Explore their impact, as well as the impact of Knox County’s part in the Underground Railroad and 19th and 20th century Black History in this exhibit. Up until March 2026, Black History of Knox County highlights and celebrates Kenyon College's contributions to the diverse history of our county.
