The City of Mount Vernon’s annual Memorial Day Parade and Ceremony honors the sacrifices of America’s service members and their families. This year’s theme, “Honoring 250 Years of American Heroes,” recognizes the nation’s semiquincentennial and generations of military service from the Revolutionary War to today.
The parade begins at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, May 25, 2026, starting at East High Street and George Street and traveling through downtown Mount Vernon before concluding near East Vine and South Park Streets. Ohio Rolling Thunder, the U.S. Vietnam Veterans group, will serve as Grand Marshals, with approximately 54 participating units expected.
Following the parade, remembrance activities continue at the Knox Memorial Building with a formal ceremony including the Pledge of Allegiance, National Anthem, wreath placements, special presentations, a rifle salute, and the playing of “Taps.”
