In Glassheart, playwright Reina Hardy reimagines the classic Beauty and the Beast fairy tale with a witty, heartfelt, and unexpectedly moving twist. Centuries after the curse began, the Beast and his only remaining magical companion—a relentlessly optimistic lamp—have traded their enchanted castle for a rundown Chicago apartment, hoping a fresh start might finally change their fate.

As they navigate the ordinary struggles of modern life, from paying rent to finding love, magic collides with reality in this imaginative romantic tragicomedy about identity, hope, and discovering the courage to rewrite your own story.

Presented by the Mount Vernon Players, performances will be held at the Gambier Community Center on Friday, October 9, and Saturday, October 10, at 7:30 p.m., with a Sunday matinee on October 11 at 2:00 p.m.
