Organizer: Outdoor Pursuits

Get ready to shift gears and sip beers (and wines) at Knox County Biketoberfest! Whether you’re hitting the trails or just looking for the ultimate fall weekend, we’ve got a spot for you.

Outdoor Pursuits, the Knox County Chamber of Commerce, and the Knox County CVB invites you to a celebration of cycling, community, and—most importantly—local flavor.

  • Love to ride? Challenge yourself on the roads and trail routes all day.

  • Love to relax? Skip the bike and head straight for the Saturday night kegs and corks tastings. (Must be 21 years of age to attend)

  • Love local? Enjoy shopping, eating and exploring Downtown Mount Vernon and Knox County.

The Bottom Line: You don’t need a helmet to enjoy a cold craft brew or to experience the unexpected.

Shifting gears....

Whether you are a seasoned cyclists, hobbyist, young or old, Outdoor Pursuits has put together some great routes for a full weekend on the trails and off the beaten path.

  • Jim Buchwald and Ed Honton Memorial Trail Routes:

Ohio to Erie Trail Connection: Mount Vernon is a key stop on the renowned Ohio to Erie Trail, offering cyclists a chance to experience the most vibrant portions of this iconic trail. KCBO will feature dedicated Ohio to Erie Trail routes, allowing you to enjoy this flat, scenic path with full support.

    • Saturday’s Buchwald Memorial Route will explore the Kokosing Gap Trail portion from Mount Vernon northeast to Glemont (up to 55 miles).

    • Sunday’s Ed Honton Memorial Route will explore the Heart of Ohio Trail portion from Mount Vernon southwest to Sunbury (up to 50 miles).

  • Traditional Road Routes:

Conquer the Knox County Bicycle Challenge: For experienced riders, the legendary Knox County Bicycle Challenge into Amish country to the east of Mount Vernon has been a longtime end-of-season challenge.

    • Saturday’s route will use the traditional Knox County Bicycle Challenge route toward Coshocton.  Routes options of 100 (6,000ft), 74 (3,200 ft) 65 (3,000 ft), and 42 (1,400ft) miles will be offered.

    • Sunday’s route will be more relaxing – traveling to the northwest of Mount Vernon to communities like Sparta, Chesterville, Fredericktown, and Ankenytown. Routes of 38 (1,500 ft), 43 (1,700 ft) and 56 (2,300 ft) will be offered.
