Kudos, An Artist Co-op, is an artist cooperative featuring 23 local artists. Kudos will be celebrating its 14th Anniversary Thursday, March 20, from 6:30pm to 8:30pm. The community is invited to come join Kudos for their birthday party featuring birthday cake, wine, art, and conversation. Many of Kudos artists will be on hand to greet and talk to attendees.
Since its inception, Kudos mantra has been quality and variety. Those guidelines have been insured through a jury committee process. Artists wishing to join Kudos submit photos of their work to the manager who passes the photos on to the jury committee. If the jury committee feels the work is a good fit for Kudos, the artist is invited to meet with the committee and show their work in person. One thing Kudos credits its longevity to is the quality and variety of art it shows, thanks to the jury process. Mediums shown at Kudos include blown, etched, stained, and fused glass, jewelry, photography, ceramics, soap and bath and body products, painting, wood, concrete, and metal, fiber, beeswax candles, and sculpture.
Another huge component of Kudos' longevity is its wonderful customers. Kudos extends a very warm thank you to each and every one of them, many of whom are local and others who travel long distances to come to Kudos.
A third component of Kudos' longevity is the artists themselves who work at Kudos doing sales, public relation activities, cleaning, staging, and a myriad of other activites necessary to the success of Kudos.
Knox County and the surrounding area are home to so many amazing local artists, a number of whom have art on display at Kudos. Kudos is open seven days a week, Monday through Saturday, 11am to 6:30pm and Sunday noon to 4 pm. There are no paid employees at Kudos. Artists receive all proceeds from their sales minus enough to pay rent, utilities, supplies, and miscellaneous expenses.
Mark your calendars for the third Thursday of every month, 6:30pm to 8:30pm for Kudos Meet the Artist, featuring one of their 23 talented artists.
