The City of Mount Vernon presents the fifth installment of The Washington Forum, a civic engagement series highlighting local voices, history, and community impact as part of the City’s America 250 programming.
This month’s program, “Home of the Brave: Stories of Heroes Next Door,” focuses on the courage, resilience, and everyday service of Mount Vernon’s frontline professionals and community support organizations. The event brings together stories from those who serve on the front lines of public safety, health, and community care, offering a closer look at the individuals who work daily to protect and strengthen the community.
Featured participants include representatives from the Mount Vernon Police Department, Mount Vernon Fire Department, the Mount Vernon Association of Police Chaplains, Knox Public Health, and other local partners. Speakers will share personal reflections and experiences that highlight themes of service, sacrifice, strength, and hope, illustrating the human side of public service in Knox County.
The Washington Forum is presented in partnership with Kenyon College’s Center for the Study of American Democracy and serves as an ongoing platform for civic dialogue and community storytelling throughout the year.
