For college students, by college students

Welcome to Knox County! Whether you just unpacked your last dorm crate at Kenyon College or settled into your residence hall at Mount Vernon Nazarene University, campus is officially buzzing with new energy. Move-in week is always a whirlwind of activity, teary-eyed family goodbyes, and that big, floating question every student asks after putting away the last stack of clothes: "So, what is there to do around here?"

We’ve got you covered. During move-in week, custom composition-notebook bookmarks were handed out across both campuses. Designed to slip right into your course textbooks, these bookmarks feature a quick QR code link directly to the new Knox County College Guide.

Curated by Students Who Actually Live(d) It

Nobody knows what makes a college town click quite like the students living there. That’s why each guide was curated by an intern from that specific campus:

  • Kenyon College POV: Crafted by our Kenyon intern, Zoey M. ‘26, who knows the best quiet study nooks off Middle Path, where to snag late-night snacks, and the ideal spots to curate your vintage threads.

  • MVNU POV: Assembled by our MVNU intern, Zoey H. ‘27, this Cougar gave us the inside scoop on top-tier local coffee shops, study spaces, local dining favorites, and outdoor hangouts around the county.

(and yes, with both our interns named “Zoey” how could they not collaborate on this cool project!)

What’s Inside the Digital Guide? The KCCVB interns gathered all their favorites spots to share, so while it’s not an exshuative list it begins to curate a new adventure for every student and semester.

  • Eats & Caffeine: The ultimate round-up of local coffee spots (Have you downloaded the Knox County Coffee Trail Pass yet!?), study-friendly cafes, cheap eats, and weekend brunch destinations.

  • Outdoor & Recreation: Where to hop on the local rail-trails, experience the river scene, or take a quick scenic hike between classes.

  • Shopping & Essentials: Top spots for vintage thrifting, local boutiques, and quick weekend errands around town.

  • Parent-Approved Spotlights: Great dinner and hotel recommendations for when family comes back to visit for Family Weekend or Graduation.

  • Notable Neighbors: Knox County is in the heart of Ohio, so pack up your friends and make that Ohio road trip happen.

  • Music + Art: Our creative shops, open-mics and galleries are a great way to explore our communities. Find a new place to express yourself here.
