Hello, I’m Zoey! Join me as I explore the eight fuel stops along the Knox County Coffee Trail. Whether you’re looking for a strong caffeine buzz, a cozy corner or a quick bite, I think the stops along this trail are sure to give you the fresh adventure you’re looking for.
Fuel Stop #2: The Brickhouse Grind
If you’re looking to venture a little further off-campus, hop in the car and take the scenic fifteen-minute drive north to the charming Village of Fredericktown. Right on the main square, you’ll find The Brickhouse Grind, a spot that perfectly balances historic charm with a modern, high-energy vibe.
As soon as you walk in, you’re greeted by a colorful and warm, bustling atmosphere. It’s the kind of place where you’ll see locals catching up over a hot brew and young professionals typing away on laptops. If you’re lucky, snag one of the cozy armchairs near the front window—it’s the best seat in the house for people-watching in the village. They even have a great patio, near their village sitting area that has rocking chairs and a public fireplace for those cozy fall days. You won’t miss their mural out front, and be sure to check out their mug exchange located right outside their patio doors.
When you get to the counter, prepare to be impressed by their extensive drink menu. While they have all the classics down to a science, The Brickhouse Grind is famous for their creative seasonal lattes, but if you’re not in the mood for coffee, their fruit smoothies and loaded teas are vibrant, refreshing, and highly Instagram-worthy.
Don't even think about leaving without checking the pastry case. After you've grabbed your treat, take a moment to browse their "Local Makers" shelf, featuring handmade soaps, candles, and art from Fredericktown neighbors.
We had the chance to chat with owner, Karen Susi, and it turns out guests will soon be able to order off their “Art Cafe” menu. The Art Cafe at Brickhouse Grind will offer guests (and coffee lovers) a chance to connect with their artistic passions and enjoy making a craft from the curated menu of activities; think watercolor, friendship bracelets, frame design and more! Pop over to @visitknoxohio on Instagram to see a sneak peek of this new art cafe concept coming soon!
